The remotest valley of all
Warwan is Kashmir's far frontier — reached over the 4,200 m Margan Top, a valley of glacier-fed river, stone-and-timber villages and trails walked more by shepherds than tourists. Trekkers rate it among the most beautiful valleys in the Indian Himalaya; electricity and phone signal remain pleasantly unreliable.
Plan my Warwan Valley tripThe dramatic 4,200 m road pass into the valley.
The Warwan river braids through meadows below hanging icefalls.
Inshan and Sukhnai — timber hamlets little changed in a century.
Routes link towards Pannikar and the Great Himalayan divide.
June–September only; Margan Top is snowbound the rest of the year.
