Kashmir's Niagara
Aharbal is the Veshaw river hurling itself 25 metres through a narrow rock throat — the valley's most powerful waterfall, framed by pine forest in the Kulgam hills. Beyond the falls, the trail climbs towards Kousarnag, a high lake that stays half-frozen most of the year.
Plan my Aharbal tripThunderous in May–June meltwater, jade-clear by autumn.
Multi-day trek to a glacial lake at 3,700 m.
Forest clearings above the gorge with falls views.
Short trails along the Veshaw for families.
April–October; the falls peak with snowmelt in late spring.
