The valley beyond Razdan Pass
Gurez lies across the 3,300 m Razdan Pass on the old Silk Route to Gilgit — a valley of log-built villages along the jade-green Kishanganga, watched over by the pyramid of Habba Khatoon peak. Opened fully to travellers only in recent years, it remains Kashmir at its most untouched: Dard-Shin culture, wooden homesteads and night skies thick with stars.
Plan my Gurez tripThe valley's pyramid landmark, named for Kashmir's poet-queen.
Dawar and Tulail's timber homes and Dard-Shin hospitality.
Almost zero light pollution — Milky Way visible most clear nights.
Crystal water fishing in one of Kashmir's least-pressured rivers.
June–September only; Razdan Pass closes with snow from late October to May.
